Great Falls, VA - Yesterday, the Board of Supervisors approved a marked up budget that will be officially adopted next week. This budget, which contained a tax increase representing 16% in the last three years, was passed with Supervisor Foust's support. Prior to voting for yet another irresponsible budget, which received bipartisan opposition, Supervisor Foust stated that this budget is "as good as we are going to do."

In response, Republican candidate for Supervisor Jennifer Chronis stated, "Dranesville District deserves better from their Supervisor. This budget represents another year of misplaced spending priorities and more taxes for homeowners. If Mr. Foust truly believes that this budget represents as good as he can do, we are in trouble next year where the County faces a $95 million shortfall.

"As your Supervisor, I will not take the easy way out like my opponent. Instead, I will engage earlier in budget discussions by calling for more meetings of the Board's Budget Committee, something Mr. Foust voted against just yesterday. I will not shirk the tough decisions that we must make if we are to get Fairfax County back on the right track. Although Mr. Foust does not believe it, we can and must do better. Saying this is 'as good as we are going to do' is not enough and clearly shows that he does not deserve that 26% pay raise he voted for himself."
